2023 Spring Training is just around the corner, and with it, many betting establishments have released odds to win this year’s World Series. The defending World Series champions, Houston Astros, opened up as the betting favorites to win the 2023 World Series.
The Astros opened at +700 to win the 2023 World Series, just above the New York Yankees at betting favorites. However, both organizations are now tied at +650.
Rounding out the top five are the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, and Atlanta Braves.
Meanwhile, the Houston Astros have made some improvements to the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches. Mark Berman of Houston’s Fox affiliate captured the new 2022 World Series logo in the lobby of the facility.

The Strength Of The Houston Astros Roster
It would certainly make sense that the Astros would rank first on that list, especially given the strength of their roster. Houston signed José Abreu to take over at first base for Yuli Gurriel. Despite losing Justin Verlander to the New York Mets in free agency, the Astros have a stacked pitching rotation. Lance McCullers Jr, Framber Valdez, José Urquidy, Luis Garcia, and Cristian Javier are the predicted starting pitchers.
With the exception of Abreu, the Astros starting lineup remains relatively unchanged. David Hensley and Mauricio Dubón are likely to be utility players for the organization.
Last year, the Dodgers opened the season as the betting favorites. The Astros, for what it’s worth, were second on that list. We all know how that ended though. The Phillies, by the way, were listed as +2800 on that list.
